Statement from the President of Weymouth & Portland, Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Tourism
"Having been proactively involved at all levels in this debate, the Chamber continues to campaign strongly for a quick resolution that will see the Relief Road become a reality. There is an urgent need to accommodate an increasing amount of traffic, and the Chamber has made a stance to ensure the local economy and future business growth is protected.
We appreciate the concerns of environmentalists, but we also are mindful of the unhealthy impact being caused by current levels of traffic along the main Dorchester Road.
With financing now agreed, we will continue to add our weight to the various planning processes that need to be progressed speedily".
